July 18, 2002 The fourth XBRL Japan Symposium was held by Japanese Institute of Certified Public Accountants, in which Walter Hamscher, Chairman of XBRL International, was invited and 107 participants joined. As the first demonstration experiment by XBRL Japan members, "An Open information supply chain using XBRL and XML" of Center for Research in Advanced Financial Technology was introduced.
November 11-15, 2002 The sixth XBRL International Conference sponsored by XBRL Japan was held in Tokyo. [Refer to the previous section "Main events in the world "]
January 24, 2003 The fifth XBRL Japan Symposium was held at a hall of Japanese Institute of Certified Public Accountants, 107 participants joined which number was same to the number of participants in previous symposium by a curious coincidence. Explanations for positioning and scope of XBRL format document and taxonomy for electronic return were offered with the theme of "Adoption of XBRL on electronic return of National Tax Agency".
July 9, 2003 The sixth XBRL Japan Symposium was held at a hall of Japanese Institute of Certified Public Accountants, in which 183 participants joined. A demonstration of sample taxonomy for electronic return was given. The overview of Financial Reporting Taxonomies Architecture (FRTA) and the overview and problems of assurance were offered as the latest hot information.
February 12, 2004 The eighth XBRL Japan Symposium was held as the seminar called "IT Solution Seminar 2004: The Present and Future of XBRL: A New Global Standards for Financial Information", sponsored by Nikkei Inc., cosponsored by XBRL Japan, and supported by Japanese Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Japan Federation of Certified Public Tax Accountants' Associations. At this time, XBRL had been widely used specifically for e-Tax system. The content of this program was the richest than ever, as lectures from every field were given by Naotsugu Umeda from National Tax Agency, Hitoshi Tanaka from Japan Federation of Certified Public Tax Accountants' Associations, Yoshiaki Wada from Bank of Japan, Makoto Shibata from The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi Ltd., and Yu Tokita from Tokyo Stock Exchange. The number of participants was 471, thus this conference became the largest level of XBRL conference in the world.
July 7, 2005 A Symposium introducing XBRL into Thailand was held at the Landmark Bangkok in Thailand for the first time. This symposium was sponsored by the Department of Corporate Development, Ministry of Commerce of Thailand and Federation of Accounting Professions of Thailand, and held as a part of the project "Supporting Pubic Accounting Law Execution in Thailand" conducted by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JPCA). The symposium was divided into 2 parts: morning seminar (160 participants of organizations concerned, accountants, etc. joined), and a round-table discussion in the afternoon (60 participants of organizations concerned joined). In the morning seminar, Kurt Ramin of XBRL International, Shen Wei Tan of PwC Singapore and Eiichi Watanabe, Vice Chair of XBRL Japan served as lecturer and gave explanations about the overview of XBRL, strategies for the adoption of XBRL, and XBRL introduction example in Japan and about XBRL Japan respectively. In addition, Akiko Matsushita of Hitachi gave a system demonstration. In the afternoon session, there was a lively discussion on how to establish organizations that will promote XBRL and which would be considered as the center. This symposium was supported by JICA, Sekikawa, accountant of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu LLC who acted as intermediary, and people concerned to be realized.
July 20, 2005 XBRL 2.1 Specification was enacted as "JIS X 7206:2005 Extensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) 2.1 Specification" dated July 20, 2005 after a review by Japanese Industrial Standards Committee. Nobuyuki Sanbuichi (Hitachi Systems) and Eiichi Watanabe (TSR) from XBRL Japan worked as members of surveying and research committee related to XBRL adoption of Japanese Standards Association to enact the JIS. A team in XBRL Japan comprising 21 persons, with Toshimitsu Suzuki (Fujitsu) as chairman, translated it. In the process of realization for enacting as JIS, the agreement to issue XBRL 2.1 Specification as JIS was signed between Japanese Standards Association that publishes JIS documents and XBRL International that has the copyright of XBRL in Japanese Standards Association dated February 25, 2005.
