August 7, 2000 XBRL “Liaison & Outreach” Symposium was held at the Foreign Correspondents' Club of Japan. Zach Coffin (KPMG) and Elmer Huh (Morgan Stanley) came to Japan and gave presentations, and 82 participants joined from different fields such as Japanese Institutes of Certified Public Accountants, financial institutions, printing of securities, economic publication/news medias, and company research institutes.
April 25, 2001 General meeting of XBRL Japan Foundation hosted by Japanese Institute of Certified Public Accountants was held, XBRL Japan was started by promoters(*) of 3 parties and 7 business corporation, official members(**) of 9 organizations, and Kiyoshi Kanai, chairman of IT committee in Japanese Institute of Certified Public Accountants, who became the first chairman of XBRL Japan.

July 4, 2001 XBRL Japan, the first Tutorial/Workshop was held at Shinkawasaki office of Hitachi, in which an instructor, David vun Kannon (KPMG) and 32 trainees from XBRL Japan and other member organizations joined.
July 6, 2001 The first XBRL Symposium (the anniversary of foundation) was held at Gakushi-kaikan, in which 168 participants joined. David vun Kannon (KPMG) came to Japan and gave a keynote talk with the theme "Business Reporting in Digital Economy Era".
August 24, 2001 The first XBRL Japan technical seminar took place at the office of e-Bridge in Shibuya Mark City, in which 105 participants joined. Fhilip Engel (KPMG) came to Japan and presented about "XBRL GL".
September 27, 2001 "Taxonomy Draft for financial statement" was officially introduced after the approval of the steering committee, 3 months public hearing was started.
November 29, 2001 The second XBRL Japan technical seminar took place at Marunouchi office of Fujitsu, in which 70 participants joined.
Thursday, November 29, 2001 XBRL Japan and XML consortium announced that they will collaborate on activities for promoting adoption of XBRL.
December 6, 2001 "Taxonomy Draft for publication of performance results with Commercial Code" was officially announced after the approval of the steering committee, 3 months public hearing was started.
December 14, 2001 The second XBRL Japan Symposium was held at a brand-new hall of Japanese Institute of Certified Public Accountants, in which 88 participants joined. An explanation on how to search, view and exchange data in XBRL documents such as publication of performance results with Commercial Code was given, and a taxonomy public draft for financial statements was introduced.
December 26, 2001 XBRL Japan announced a report, with theme of "Credit Risk Assessment Service through the interface of XBRL" presented at the symposium held at Center for Research in Advanced Financial Technology in December 21, as "the first experimental publication by members".
March 28, 2002 The third XBRL Japan Symposium was held at a hall of Japanese Institute of Certified Public Accountants, in which 68 participants joined. XBRL Japan presented the overview of taxonomy for financial statements.
March 29, 2002 XBRL Japan Town Meeting hosted by XBRL Japan members took place at a large meeting room in the head office of Fujitsu, in which Zach Coffin from XBRL International steering committee was invited.
