August 2, 2005 "XBRL GL seminar for non-XBRL Japan members" took place in the training room of Chuo Aoyama Audit Corporation in Kasumigaseki building, in which 65 participants joined. Eric Cohen (PwC) was invited as a lecturer. He introduced the latest public draft of XBRL GL and exchanged opinions about its application.
September 29, 2005 An XBRL seminar for finance sponsored by Korea Federation of Banks and Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants was held in Seoul, in which Yoshiaki Wada from Bank of Japan and Makoto Shibata from The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi Ltd. joined as lecturers. The contents of the seminar were "General Information of XBRL" by Mr. Yong Moon Lee (KICPA), "Case Study of XBRL" by Mr. Soon Kook Chang (PWC), "Efforts in Bank of Japan" by Mr. Wada, and "Using XBRL in Commercial Bank" by Mr. Shibata. More than 500 participants joined, reflecting increased interests on XBRL in Korea.
November 7-10, 2005 The 12th XBRL International Conference cosponsored by XBRL International and XBRL Japan and Japanese Institute of Certified Public Accountants was held in Tokyo. It was the second time that XBRL International Conference took place in Tokyo. [Refer to the previous section "Main events in the world "]
February 8, 2006 Bank of Japan announced that the system of receiving and delivering financial data in XBRL format from and to over 500 financial institutions was launched in the production environment.
April 21, 2006 Financial Services Agency announced the plan for optimization of business and system and the adoption of XBRL for EDINET, the electronic disclosure system for disclosure documents such as financial statements, from early 2008.
April 25, 2006 Tokyo Stock Exchange announced the adoption of XBRL in the first page of a summary of accounts using TDnet (timely disclosure information transfer system) and when delivering and receiving the basic financial statements data. Year 2008 was the target when to introduce XBRL according to the movement of EDINET.
July 18, 2006 The ninth XBRL Japan Symposium was held at a hall of Japanese Institute of Certified Public Accountants with the theme "Now for EDINET! Widely Spreading XBRL" (cosponsored by XBRL Japan and Japanese Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and supported by Tokyo Stock Exchange). On that day, Hisashi Okuzumi, managing director and chairman of information system committee of Japan Federation of Certified Tax Accountants’ Associations, was invited as a guest. This symposium became successful as 267 participants joined and lectures were given from representatives from every field: Naotsugu Umeda from National Tax Agency, Yoshiaki Wada from Bank of Japan, Katsumi Ao from Tokyo Stock Exchange, and Koichiro Funaki from Shinginko Tokyo.
September 15, 2006 XBRL Osaka seminar, which theme was "Basic Course in XBRL: Breakthrough in corporate financial information brought by XBRL", was held for the first time as a regional XBRL seminar in a training room of Japanese Institute of Certified Public Accountants KINKI Chapter (the seminar was sponsored by XBRL Japan and Japanese Institute of Certified Public Accountants KINKI Chapter, supported by Osaka Securities Exchange). On that day, lectures were offered by many: Yoshiaki Wada from Bank of Japan, Koji Yoshida from Tokyo Stock Exchange, Katsumi Shiraishi from Shinginko Tokyo, Takao Ichikawa from Local Tax Electronization Conference System, commencing with the lecture "Over View of XBRL" given by an assistant professor in Osaka Seikei University Takashi Ishijima and an assistant professor in Graduate School of Osaka City University Manabu Sakagami, and 173 participants joined to make this seminar very vibrant and creative.
March 13, 2007 The 10th XBRL Japan Symposium was held in Tokyo Stock Exchange with the theme "Advanced Disclosure and XBRL: For Promoting Fair, Accurate, and Fast Corporate Information Disclosure" (cosponsored by XBRL Japan, Tokyo Stock Exchange, and Japanese Institute of Certified Public Accountants). This symposium became more magnificent than any other symposiums, in which lectures were offered by highly-respected people from every field: Taizo Nishimuro from Tokyo Stock Exchange, Toshinori Kobayashi from Financial Services Agency, Masayuki Tamagawa from National Tax Agency, the professor of Graduate School in Aoyama Gakuin University Shinji Hatta, the professor of Graduate School in Shibaura Institute of Technology Yoshiko Shirata, Takashi Inoue from Japan Business Federation, Toshihiko Amano from Security Analysts Association of Japan, Tetsuyuki Yoneyama from Daiwa Investor Relations Co. Ltd., and 403 participants joined.
January 15, 2008 "Symposium sponsored by the Center for Research in Advanced Financial Technology and supported by XBRL Japan" was held in Tokyo Institute of Technology with the theme "Redevelopment of EDINET in Financial Services Agency and Vision of XBRL Technology", in which a topic on XBRL was discussed.
March 15, 2008 New EDINET with XBRL used in financial statements of securities reports was launched. It became possible not only to access disclosure documents through Internet but also to download and use the XBRL format data related to the financial statements.
July 7, 2008 Tokyo Stock Exchange introduced XBRL to the whole of TDnet (timely disclosure information transfer system), starting delivering and receiving summary information about digest of earnings using XBRL.
July 15, 2008 The first seminar for XBRL Japan's regular members and associate members was held as an anniversary for the launch of the new EDINET. The lectures were given: "New EDINET: Kicking off one of the biggest XBRL system in the world" by Atsushi Takeda from Financial Services Agency, "Overview of the XBRL adoption in TDnet" by Koji Yoshida from Tokyo Stock Exchange.
August 26, 2008 The second seminar for XBRL Japan's regular members and associate members was held with the theme "XBRL Technology".
September 16, 2008 The third seminar for XBRL Japan's regular members and associate members was held with the theme "Case Study of Using XBRL Data: The adoption of XBRL to the scheme of reports from financial institutes to Bank of Japan".
November 18, 2008 The fourth seminar for XBRL Japan's regular members and associate members was held with the theme "Reports from the 18th XBRL International Conference in Washington".
December 12, 2008 The fifth seminar for XBRL Japan's regular members and associate members was held with the theme "Reports of Achievement from the 'XBRL Taxonomy Development Training' in the 18th XBRL International Conference".
January 13, 2009 Tokyo Stock Exchange started to deliver and receive financial statements on the digest of earnings with XBRL in TDnet.
February 12, 2009 The sixth seminar for XBRL Japan's regular members and associate members was held with the theme "The Application of XBRL in TDnet".
March 10, 2009 The 11th XBRL Japan Symposium was held in Tokyo Stock Exchange with the theme "XBRL: Towards the Communication Infrastructure in Financial Market" (sponsored by XBRL Japan, Tokyo Stock Exchange, and Japanese Institute of Certified Public Accountants).
March 24, 2009 The seventh seminar for XBRL Japan's regular members and associate members was held with the theme "Interpretation of XBRL Dimensions 1.0".
July 3, 2009 The eighth seminar for XBRL Japan's regular members and associate members was held with the theme "XBRL GL Seminar".
September 10, 2009 The special seminar for XBRL Japan's regular members and associate members was held with the guests XBRL US CEO Mark Bolgiano and Max Mansur from SWIFT America.
September 15, 2009 The ninth seminar for XBRL Japan's regular members and associate members was held with the theme "The Application of XBRL in TDnet: The time has come to become comparable with XBRL used in US companies!"
September 25-27, 2009 The special seminar for XBRL Japan's regular members was held with the guests XBRL International GL WG member Eric. E. Cohen.
October 1, 2009 The tenth seminar for XBRL Japan's regular members and associate members was held with the theme "The Introduction of the Latest Movement on XBRL".
October 5, 2009 The special seminar for XBRL Japan's regular members was held with the guests XBRL International GL WG member Eric. E. Cohen.
October 23, 2009 The 11th seminar for XBRL Japan's regular members and associate members was held with the theme "Reports from the XBRL US Intern".
November 27, 2009 The 12th seminar for XBRL Japan's regular members and associate members was held with the theme "The Latest Movement of IFRS, Interpretation of IFRS Taxonomy".
February 23, 2010 The 13th seminar for XBRL Japan's regular members and associate members was held in Tokyo Stock Exchange.
March 10, 2010 The first XBRL Asia Workshop was held in Bank of Japan.
March 12, 2010 The 12th XBRL Japan Symposium was held in Tokyo Stock Exchange with the theme "XBRL and IFRS: Two Common Languages to Reform the World".
