January 2010 Makoto Koizumi of Fujitsu Research Institute was elected as the Chairman of Best Practice Board.
March 10-11, 2010 The 1st XBRL Asia Workshop was held in Bank of Japan, Tokyo. Participants from each Asian country gathered at the same place for the first time. They shared with each other the progress of XBRL project in each country and discussed on various issues of concern.
April 20-22, 2010 The 20th XBRL International Conference was held in Rome, Italia with the theme of "XBRL: linking Business, Public Regulators & Citizen", in which about 200 participants from all over the world joined. At first, over 300 participants were estimated to join, but many of them could not go to the place because of a volcanic eruption in Iceland, which caused a disruption of transportation in entire Europe. As a result, many of the intended topics for discussion for this meeting were postponed. However, some of the participants drove directly far from Poland to the meeting place and some managed to go there by changing trains for a couple of times. Thus, this meeting became highly significant despite the crisis, presenting the existence of "indomitable XBRL".
April 23, 2010 The 12th European Banking Supervisors XBRL Workshop was held in Italy's central bank, following the XBRL international Conference stated above. This workshop, hosted mainly by Bank of Spain, was held every 2 years in every European country. Central banks in Europe had developed COREP (reporting for Basel II) and FINREP (reporting for other general monitoring data) and taken efforts to implement them. In this meeting, they raised the question if they could establish a new common format for financial statistical data in Europe in the future.
May 24-25, 2010 An extraordinary ISC, BOD meeting was held in Bruxelles, Belgium. This meeting was intended to discuss and determine the important matters which were not discussed in the former 20th XBRL International Conference. From Japan, Mr. Koizumi in Fujitsu Research Institute and a member of ISC, and Mr. Wada from Bank of Japan attended this meeting.
October 19-21, 2010 The 21th XBRL International Conference was held in Beijing, China with the theme of "One Language, Common Vision: Role of XBRL Technology in the Post-Crisis Era", in which 600 participants (240 participants were from abroad) from 20 countries joined, becoming the largest scale in XBRL International Conference history. At the start of this meeting, official release of standard taxonomy in China was announced and plenty of contents were arranged: there were various track sessions such as IFRS, assurance (assuring the justification for accounting), regulators, solutions, academic, technology and others, along with conventions in China.
February 17-18, 2011 The second XBRL Asia Workshop was held in Mumbai, India. Participants from each Asian country and Western country exchanged information exclusively and worked together at XBRL conventions in India to come out with informations for promoting the adoption of XBRL in this country.
May 17-19, 2011 The 22th XBRL International Conference was held in Bruxelles, Belgium with the theme of "Sharing Economic Information in a Global World: the XBRL Contribution", in which efforts on adoption of XBRL in Europe made by ESMA (European Securities and Markets Authority), National Bank of Belgium, and SBR project by the government of Netherlands were announced to the world.
October 25-27, 2011 The 23th XBRL International Conference was held in Montreal, Canada with the theme of "Enhancing Business Performance", where they demonstrated the steady enhancement of XBRL adoption, and introduced the status of XBRL adoption in North America such as a load map in Canada, updated status of U.S. SEC, along with some efforts for adopting XBRL to disclose corporate information in UAE.
March 20-22, 2012 The 24th XBRL International Conference was held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates with the theme of "Transparency: with Available, Reliable, Comparable and Re-usable Data". This conference was the first XBRL International Conference for Arab countries, in which many cases in adoption of XBRL including non-financial aspects such as climate changes reporting were introduced.
May 10, 2012 The third XBRL Asia Roundtable (renamed from the conventional "XBRL Asia Workshop") was held in Singapore.
November 6-8, 2012 The 25th XBRL International Conference was held in Yokohama, Japan with the theme of "To the next level of business reporting and beyond", in which about 320 participants including 130 from 25 foreign counties joined. In this conference, the efforts on adopting XBRL in Japan were introduced and the latest problem on adoption of XBRL was brought forward such as considering Large XBRL data processing.
April 16-18, 2013 The 26th XBRL International Conference was held in Dublin, Ireland with the theme of "Still Haven’t Found What You’re Looking For? – Harness The Power Of Joined Up Business Reporting". In this conference, it was recognized that the number of countries that adopted XBRL into SBR and corporate income tax return was increasing, the adoption of XBRL was spreading in non-financial area, and the methods of utilizing data was increasing and developing.
May 19, 2013 The first XBRL GCC workshop was held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This is the first regional workshop, gathering financial and marker regulators of member nations of GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council, consists of 6 member nations: the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia). CEO Tony Fragnito, BoD Member, XBRL Asia Roundtable Chair Yoshiaki Wada attended and presented about further promotion of adopting XBRL.
May 23, 2013 The fourth XBRL Asia Roundtable was held in Suzhou, China, in which Chairman Yuzo Takagi from XBRL Japan, Mr. Koizumi from Mercury and Earth joined. In this meeting, a joint statement on the establishment of XBRL Asia (a tentative name) and activities to promote adoption of XBRL in Asian countries was issued.
June 9-11, 2014 The 27th XBRL International Conference was held in Florida, in the United States. This conference reviewed the use of XBRL in developing countries including those in the Asian region, the relationship between open data and XBRL, the joint introduction of XBRL to SBR by several government institutions, and the use of XBRL in the US government.
August 19-20, 2015 The fifth Asia Roundtable was held in Jakarta, Indonesia, with Mr. Wada (NTT DATA Corporation) and Mr. Koizumi (Mercury and Earth, LLC.) attending from XBRL Japan. The status of propagation of XBRL in Asian countries and the efforts of each country were presented at this roundtable.
September 8-10, 2015 The 28th XBRL International Conference was held in Copenhagen, Denmark, with the theme of "Business Reporting 360°."
